Re: Wood stick mantaince
that is a pretty good mix, I remember the pine tar smell from the halibut schooners coming into Ketchikan, they used it all the time. I used it on cross country skies until fiberglass ones came on line. You can't go wrong with that mix.

Re: Stainless fasteners below waterline.
My boat had sheeting of iron bark all fastened with large s.s. screws. When I removed them as I took off the iron bark to replace ribs and planks the screws where in perfect condition. They had been in for twelve years. My shipwright said not to use s.s. below the water line. I did not argue and all...

Re: Electronics upgrade advice?
It is not cheap, but cheaper than buying them as stand alone. The one I got is totally water proof and can be in the cockpit with out a shield. Lowrance unit with the four insturments, radar, fathometer, plotter and insturments abilities...........2300.00 transducer 50 and 200klz 220.00 broad band r...

Re: Electronics upgrade advice?
I have a new Lowrance system, radar, plotter and fathometer. All the information on the system can be transmitted to a monitor by a ethernet cable, a very simple process. You can watch all three at a time or one at a time. The broad band radar draws very little power and can show objects as close as...

This is a subject that has so many limbs to the electric tree (so to speak) here is what I have found through trial and error. 1. are the zinc's welded or bolted. if bolted make sure of a good contact. 2. aluminum zincs above the rotation of the center of your prop on the rudder and pure zincs on th...

Not only are they not the first Kings of the year, they are not even allowed to be caught north of Cape Suckling. Southeast is the only area you can catch in the winter and sell.

Re: new deck paint
I have used this produce and it seems to do as well as any on the market. It is a two part epoxy and easy to use. On the bow where there is little traffic it has lasted twelve years. On the back deck I have had to put it on twice. It moves 200 percent so it doesn't crack open easily. But like most p...

Re: 36' Albion?
We have several in the Cook Inlet area and they are a great vessel for just about any thing. Some where used as a charter boats for the sport fishery. I fished next to them when I was running a 42 foot delta hull. Here is what I found out about the square chine hulls. What ever the angle of the wave...

Ok guys I need some of your input. Right now I have two totes on the deck of my boat "the Vickie Rann" each tote holds 900 lbs of fish. I usually run with five tons of ice in the fish hole and have never had any problems no matter how rough the weather gets. The boat is 48 feet long and 13...

Re: Sea Anchors
Tracy, I bought a sea anchor from Pacific Marine Exchange in Bellingham for 100.00 dollars and it worked great, I have a large heavy boat so I got a 14 footer and it held me straight into the heavy sea's as if anchored up. In high winds I traveled from side to side and there were several things I le...

Re: Summer King Salmon !!!
I wonder how many smaller salmon will be thrown back as those try to get the largest king possible as the season is left open. This is if a percentage is in effect. Southeast is a small portion of the state, you are not allowed to fish north of Cape Suckling, I have personally sport fished for king ...

Just got through watching a cooking show called America’s test kitchen, they had the chef travel to the east coast and interviewed a fish mogul. Laid out on ice was five filets of Salmon, four farm raised and one wild. This individual was praising the farm raised as control growth with a higher fat ...

Re: Black Box
I asked Malcome Roberts how far down, and out away from the boat does the field travel. He told me he had tested out to 300 yards in a 360 degree circle. After that I turned off my black box and just followed all the black box boats within 300 yards. At the end of the season all I had to do was chan...
