Re: Financing from abroad
I would get an AK address, focus on you past experiences fishing in Ak, and write an additional letter of explanation stating that u were abroad for education and would like to return home to engage in you commercial fishing business again.

can you post a link to the rule? I though that there was a portioning option the last time I filled out the processing paperwork.

Re: washdown/dewatering pump
I'm leaning toward installing a similar system to my last boat. I have a rule general wash down that I will reduce from 1 1/2 down to two 3/4 inch deck hoses for rinsing fish. For dewatering and circulating slush I will use a "pump on a stick" rule 3500 to put in the slush bags. At a later...

washdown/dewatering pump
I'm looking for recommendations for a large (probably hydraulic) washdown and emergency dewatering pump. I'd like to possibly use the pump to ciculate or pump out my slush system. I have a small thru hull that I'm going to use for a small 12v rinse pump. But I want a powerful sucker to move lots of ...

Can you post a pic of Lulu? Monk designs are one of the best. I enjoy seeing wood, glass, and metal boats fabricated by the same designer.

Re: Chain length on Stabilizers
U have 40 foot steel boat, right?
Assuming your rigging and stays are stout u could probably use 1/2. 3/8 has 6600# breaking strength. Spliced and knots reduce the load limit.

Re: Chain length on Stabilizers
I'm rigging my new boat with spectra (also called spectron or dyneema or kevlar) line to the staybies. 1/4 is 6000 pound breaking strength.

The 51 page chapter in this book focuses on air conditioning and galley refrigeration. I guess some of the info could apply to the industrial systems on our vessels.

I recommend: http://www.amazon.com/Boatowners-Mechanical-Electrical-Manual-Essential/dp/0071432388/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8[/url] This book combined with the meter that I recommended should get the boat part of the fishing equation pointed in the correct direction. Based on my experience I believe that i...

I highly recommend: http://www.testequipmentdepot.com/products.htm?item=DL379&ref=gbase&gclid=CMTvkIKG08MCFQ-DfgodnpgAfw I was introduced to this meter during an electrical course at tech college. This meter performed as well as the Flukes that were 3 times the cost. I have 3 of these meters...

Re: Trolling pole idea's
@cfoot in response to your posted picture. U really want to support the pole tips when they are down in the fishing position. The poles need 2 supports at the tip. They are called a "forestay" and "tip haul up line." The "forestay" runs toward the bow to oppose the aft ...
