Re: LED flood instead of Sodium?
I've got two 9 inch round 185 watt Cree leds. $110 each. I'm pretty happy so far. We'll see how they hold up.

I use Pacific Net and Twine wire and my voltage is about the same as yours. My wire lasts three or four seasons with no rust.

Re: New boat with a hot Tranny...borg warner velvet drive Q
It sounds like your heat exchanger is to small. You could call a heat exchanger company and have them size one for you. Going with saltwater brings a lot of other problems and maintenance. I don't think that the salt water temperature is much different than the keel cooler coolant temperature.

Make sure that your coolant goes to the gear cooler before going to the engine.

Are you sure that is a factory rebuild from Cat? It seems way too cheap.

Are you talking about the new computerized Isuzu? Any mechanic can work on the older ones.

Thanks Eric
I was wondering where that went. I think I just sold a permit. Jon put it up but everything would take a couple of days. So I just donated.

Re: Question on documenting ex-canadian vessel
There are a lot of Canadian built boats in the Southeast troll fishery. The hard part and expensive part has been done for you already with the admeasure. There used to be some benefits in having a documented boat like free health insurance. I don't know of any benefits anymore.

I've had good luck with my Jabsco electric clutch pump. I think it's as old as the boat 1983. Iwaki pumps last a long time but they are 110 volt.

The new wireless Wilson boosters are good. Wilson also makes a velcro on instead of a plug that you can use on your Iphone that works good with your old booster.

Are you turning while hauling your float bags? That's what I had the most problems with when I started.

That's right Drew. They report dock price for tax purposes. They don't have to pay tax on value added so the gross that CFEC calculates is a lot lower. So that probabably lowers you even further Salty.

I built a hand crank for mine. The shaft had a keyway in it. If you take the hydraulic motor off it's not too bad at all.
