Great pics. Thanks much. Similar to mine, except I never thought of double sleeves... anxious to give it a try! I also like your advice to reduce tearing the herring, something I've often struggled with.

Salty... your comment on changing length from eye of hook to second sleeve lost me. I don't think I understand your "whole herring" setup. Is it a firecracker with a second hook?
