Re: Dickinson advice?

This has been a very informative topic! I've had the Dickenson Pacific for 20 years without the barometric damper and the stove works fine. In a strong westerly I make sure at least a window is cracked open to supply adequate air. Turning the fan on seems to help also. The only thing I haven't seen ...

Re: Chain length on Stabilizers

For 6 seasons I've used 3 fathoms of 3/8 Spectra on my 45f boat. No corrosion, no rust, and very easy to haul by hand. The Canadian rigging described earlier is bestfor strength. I was initially worried about chafing, but that hasn't been a problem. I'm hoping to get 6 more years out ot the Spectra.

Re: Wooden poles

Best thing to do with those old wood poles is to cut em up and burn in your wood stove. They're gonna cost you a lot of money when one breaks in the middle of the season.

Re: Mustad Hooks

My kids don't like Qi hooks! Iused to pay them 10cents to sharpen every Mustad hood I bought. The Qi hooks are very sharp right out of the box. I'l never buy another Mustad.

Re: Few questions regarding spread

If you want to avoid tangles run your gear when the boat is going straight. The most foolproff way to produce tangles is to turn sharply while letting the gear out. For spectacular tangles try fishing N Inian pass while your boat is spinning 360 in the tide rips!

Re: Saving Old Nobletech

Thanks for the idea Sharlene C. When my old lap top finally gives up I'll try this solution. I bought Catch but I'm not getting rid of my Nobel 6.1 anytime soon! Furuno

Re: Self rescue ladder

I've enjoyed reading this thread. I've been fishing over 30 years and never needed a rescue ladder until last spring. I had a little orientation session for my new deckhand which consisted of learning how to operate all the safety gear and finally donning a survival suit and paddling around the boat...

Re: Onboard charging system

Roger the above posts about having a separate bank of two 6v deep cycle batteries in series (12v) for house use. I've got two 8D's in the engine room and the engine can start on either one. Last time I looked I had 10years on 1 8D and 7 on the other. One real nice thing about the 6v deep cycle batte...

I always knew that whenever I could spot the Beloit II I'd encounter good fishing!

Re: Superstitions

At the beginning of my fishing career I found it necessary to find a winter job to support my troll habit. I was fortunate to land a job as cook on a tug going from Seattle to Dutch. Needless to say, we saw lots of big waves on that 30 day run. The weather conditions would sometimes dictate the menu...

Re: Tuff Flex

This is great stuff! I first put it on the back steel deck. I liked it so much that the next year I did the foredeck, the top of the pilot house, the troll pit, and the shower. Before applying the surface must be clean and free of loose paint. Wait for a warm sunny day. Do the primer first thing in ...
