Re: Plug hook sizing?

I would love to learn how to fish plugs. I have tried many times with lots of colors only to be disappointed . That being said it seemed in my limited experience fishing plugs the standard J hooks wear on the tail area. Some of the older plugs I have are rigged with a Dura Nickel style curve point a...

Re: Magic formula?

I think some guys are using the aluminum anodes for an ion trail because they eat more readily than zinc.

Once and Future do you know what your base hull potential is being heavy on the zinc side?

Magic formula?

Is there a formula for how much zinc you should have on a glass, wood, steel boat?

What about a ratio for zinc to aluminum anodes?

What do you guy's think?

Re: Leader Material

what pound test are you guys using for kings? My first season and I have a coil of Jinkai 80lb, 100lb and 150lb not sure which is best? I'll be trolling hoochies mostly. Thanks. I use a heavier leader before the flashers so if a Sea Lion grabs the salmon I usually lose the hootchie tail leader. Mos...

Re: Black Box

You know your black box is working well when your line snaps turn pink and the the trolling wire beads start eating off the wire. :D

Seriously though I know for a fact a black box is great for brain snakes, especially those of us who can't leave stuff alone. :D

Lulu,

How much do you think your production increases with vs without the box, all things being equal?

Re: Black Box

Black box = Brain snakes. Just kidding, except not really. A lot of boats properly set up fish well with the boxes turned off. If your boat has proper hull potential and you have proper line voltage differential and the boat is bonded eliminating stray current you should be good without a box. But t...

Re: Shear boards

You can also run shears instead of floats. But if there is some traps around it's not the best idea.

Re: Spoons

Straight Spoons are good for bow poles on shorter leaders. Straight spoons are also good for inside deep clearance issues. In my experience you will be better off in a scratch bite by alternating spoon flasher combinations. But when they bite well I can typically do better by running all flashers on...

Re: Hand Troll or Power Troll?

I agree with Salty, If you actually add up the true expenses salmon trolling is very expensive. A lot of guys are still running surplus 71's from World War Two . Why ? Because a new $60,000.00 main is not in the cards. I believe if you look at the true cost of equipment upgrades , insurance , gear ,...

From what little I understand. GMO labeling has already been undermined from the Fed level. No GMO tag required. On a state level .... WA state tried to pass an initiative to label products accordingly. Monsanto and other big players killed the bill with lot's of pro GMO PR work.
