I usually take 1-2 Dramamine in the morning. Work too hard and fast to get drowsy. Maybe a little grumpy though.

Re: Helm chair
I bought a leather bar style stool from Fred Meyers for $70. Seams sturdy, heat resistant since it's near the stove. Easy to clean. Comfortable, but you're not going to fall asleep in it without falling out. And it's slim and small enough it's not in the way. I'm in the process of extending my dash ...

Re: Got a GPS steering compass.Autopilot's finally working r
How big is your boat? I recently purchased a new autopilot system that relies on a GPS compass, and the electrician I approached about installing the unit suggested I rethink my purchase as he said gps based steering was less accurate and efficient on larger boats. Which was contradictory to what I ...

It's all spelled out in the regulations written by ADF&G. If you're fishing, you should probably read them.

Well, having fished the "usual" on the last couple boats I crewed on, I'll say MY new boat came with a ton of old school gear, including a lot of well used Abe and Al's (which is all I ever heard about from the old trollers growing up in Oregon). Whether they only left their "scrub ge...

Re: Chain length on Stabilizers
Thanks Mike, I'll check out that thread. Yes it sounds like our boats were rigged about the same. Hard stays are definitely on the list for the future.
Cables, wires, lines, they all annoy me. Why the heck I got into trolling is beyond me...hah!

All these timely posts with new ideas while re-rigging my "new" boat. I might have to try this.

My general rule of thumb, even when crewing, has been to double my expected expenses and half my expected income. We'll see how that works out this year. Hopefully I'll only have to sell one kidney.

Don't know how I missed this post. Hoping to bring it up in March or early April. Depends on how temperamental the weather still is.nashfam wrote:Hey Jackson I just put a downpayment on a boat in Astoria! When are you trying to bring yours up?

Re: Need the services of a shipwight in Astoria
I've been hearing nothing but good things about Port Townsend and have been considering making the run up. There are a couple stern ribs and fastenings on the new boat I'm worried about. It looks like the previous owner just started to neglect the boat the last couple of years and it turned quickly....
