Re: price is right

Lone Eagle,

I hope it will hold @ $8.50. I heard there was a lot of pressure from Pacific to push the price lower. It sounds like some guys had some nice trips. Keep catching!

Re: price is right

Nice! For some reason I though all of Oregon was under the PFMC guidance and as of now they are right in the middle of the "options" meeting in Vancouver. It seems they are currently discussing the lower half of the state not the northern part. Speaking of price does anyone know what the C...

Re: Mono Line

Salty,

Do you use aluminum crimps with the Izor line?

Would J sized sleeves work on the 80lb test?

Do you use the Izor XXX series leader?

Thanks.

Hooks

What's your favorite curved point or non curved point stainless hook. The Mustad 95170's I use seem to be more prone to crevice corrosion than they used to be. I am looking for an alternative to 5/0 Mustad 95170's.

Re: Fairing Block Construction

We used a UHMW style plastic for guards of the keel cooler. The 5200 seamed to seal OK but they had stainless screws going through them. I think the Trex style decking would be more porous and offer a better bite or a better tooth for the 5200 to grab ahold of. My concern would be many composite dec...

Re: Salmon Trolling small boat in northern CA

Check fuel distribution. Maybe one tank has more or less fuel than the other. Some small boats have a potable water tank on one side as well. Look for extra leads stacked against the stringers on the lower side. Anchor gear on one side. It does not take much to create a list on a small vessel. Speak...

Re: Turning without tangles

The biggest trick to keep from having line tangles is to keep the bow lines at a lesser angle than the tips, and keep the tips at a lesser angle than the dogs. Whether you do this by running more stops on the floats with a lighter lead or by using more flashers it does not matter. What matters is li...

Re: Faviorite Hoochie for Chinook

Salty, Interesting looking. Cuttlefish nonetheless. I like the tinsel insert, we used insert's in very deep water in a clear octopus style when fishing 80-90 fathoms on the bottom. We called them red racer's. Cant remember the number right now. They were really good at catching splitters. By the tim...

Re: Faviorite Hoochie for Chinook

Salty is right on with having running partner's to find a general trend. It may change day to day , week to week or tide to tide. If there is a lot of hard bait around like anchovies you may try North Pacific G42-W another good standby is North Pacific G76-W.

Re: Best rope for haul in lines

If you have Canadian style rigging with a stainless cable going from the mast to the poles I would use 5/8" nylon on the main haul in. It is easy on your hands and seems to wear decently. 1/2" nylon on the tips. 3/8" nylon on the snooters. It seems to me anything I have bought with tr...

Re: Personal locator beacons

I went to the boat show and looked at three or four different models and finally chose the ACR Resqlink+ floating model. It was a hard choice because they all were pretty cool. It is larger than the Rescue Me model but it floats and has a strobe in it. I talked to all of the manufacturer reps about ...
