Ah! This one? http://www.dockstreetbrokers.com/listin ... hp?id=2239
Looks like somebody cared for it recently. Too bad there's no hay-rack. If you intend to do any freezing or processing you'll need a shelter deck or at least an awning.

Re: Sunnfjord 47

You talked to Jim Steffen over there about that boat? He'll be able to give you a no-BS survey when you get that far.

Re: Sunnfjord 47

Cummins! I like it! Dare to be different! A lot of the guys are installing Deere 6068s which are very efficient too. Put a ZF gear with 4:1 and swing a honkin' dia prop for even more efficiency. And I see that the Canadians have taken to putting bulbous bows on fish-boats even down to the 40-foot le...

Re: Sunnfjord 47

Check where the mast steps on deck. I looked at several that had low areas in the deck there due to softness underneath since the fish-hold extends underneath the house quite a ways and there's no support from a bulkhead there. Those hulls also usually develop cracks right where the deck meets the h...

Re: Finding ICE/Tenders

I was just out at Elfin and the word on the VHF was that Pelican has a small ice machine going. I got ice at Glacier Seafoods in Juneau, and it still took them 45 min to get the auger un-stuck. Kinda out of the way for you though. Hoonah has ice too. Maybe call Hoonah and get the number for the woma...

Re: UPDATE on USCG Safety Regs

Confused indeed! My first (under my breath) comment was "too vague for rules". My next thought was, why bother getting inspected now, if they will need to change most requirements? That aside, it was only a matter of time before they closed the loophole between US-documented boats versus A...

Re: Simplex gurdie question

Salty, since you've been working your Easthopes hard for several years, What areas of wear would you suggest looking out for on a used set? The ones I just bought seem okay, but have several plastic parts like the bushings that the clutch handles actuate, that could need replacing?
Thanks!

Re: tiny VHF vs. personal epirb

Got this Rope Ladder idea from a gillnetter friend. They're not that hard to make. The first decent rope ladder I've seen that won't beat the crap out of your boat. Make it yourself so you can plan the length so that it can't possibly get into the prop or wrap the rudder, then leave it available clo...

Re: Pole Stays

Hi Brant, Welcome! With cable stays, the trick is to try to get the lower mounts all on the same plane as the pole hinge pivot. That means that the anchor-point on the bow generally needs to be quite low. These pictures from the Photos thread on the forum show what I mean. http://www.salmontrolling....

Re: My Detroit eats Deer for breakfast.

I have a vacuum gauge in the dash too and it's plumbed via tiny diameter copper using flare fittings from the Racor to within a couple feet of the gauge and then hose from there so it can flex to allow the panel to hinge open. Pure vacuum is only 15 psi so it doesn't take super-special hose to be ok...

Re: Bow Poles

Squareface
Your new boat has drilled mounting holes for bow-pole bases on the top of the anchor winch if I remember correctly. I wonder if Jerry might remember where the poles and fittings went to?
