Re: Engine driven RSW systems
I am a small california day troller. Ice is an issue. Only hold 200 pounds and have to pay for 400 lbs. an RSW sounds ideal. How long does it take to chill? Can a electric compressor be installed in parallel to pre-chill the water while at the dock overnight? On a properly sized system you can pull...

Re: Engine driven RSW systems
Delori3, I can sure see the advantages in Refrigerated Sea Water (RSW), in getting away from ice having always iced or slushed fish. Unless it's changed in Alaska the processors that I have dealt with only want iced or slushed fish because of their concerns with scale loss. In rolling seas even imp...

Re: washdown/dewatering pump
A 2" Pacer pump plumbed for both a deck hose and and emergency bilge pump saved my boat one morning and kept me from financial ruin. Ball valves plumbed above the water line that are easy to get to are a must. Bolted thru seacock on suction of 2" raw water. Foot valve on suction of bilge l...

Not quite sure what you mean?
If you are talking about making davits out of PVC you would be better off with metal.

Re: Who makes or made the best sea boat under 40'
We need photos. How do we put photos up? I know the C and M's are longer than 40 but they have a stellar reputation for fishing albacore 1200 miles off shore and fishing some bad weather. Thats a long ways out in a 42 or 44 boat. I had the chance to buy one at a reasonable price ..... still kicking ...

Re: Who makes or made the best sea boat under 40'
For little boats in a tight chop the 26' Radons the urchin diver's used to fly around in seemed to pound in and out to the grounds well. They would go out in 8x6 all the time with 20 plus knots of northwest. The tape around the cabins would always be cracking on them but man they just went. I think ...

Vega marine was out of Channel Islands or somewhere in Ca if I remember right? Weren't they a part of Willard Boats at one time?

Who makes or made the best sea boat under 40'
Let's hear who has made the best sea boat 40' and under. Is it a heavy northern wood fan tail? Is it a double ender? Is it a modern wide down east lobster boat? Is it a monk style steel boat? Could it be a cold molded plywood hull ? Who makes the toughest most comfortable heavy sea boat around ? Wha...

Re: Wooden poles
If your concerned you may have failure and won't be able to get parts in town. You might grab a roll of flashing to wrap one up if you break it. I have seen them done with glass as well. These patches were never done below the cross tree if that was the case you might have to replace instead of repa...
