Tote bag repair

Post by carojae »

Just purchased a brailer bag from a guy only to discover one of the nylon straps (handle) was cut in two.
I have a replacement for it. I'm looking for tips on how to sew a new one on - are there kits available for this? Any advice on how to do this or should I give the guy his bag back.

Thanks.

Know any sail makers or canvas boat top makers? or shoe repair shops in the area? What about an awl stitcher? I see a kit on E bay for $15. I'd be Leary of sewing a short piece on. I'd think it a smart idea to get lifting straps from the local auto parts store and going all the way, from the bottom to the top, leave a handle, back around the bottom, up the opposite side, leave a 2nd handle and back to the bottom with an over lap. I've seen 1300 lb gill net fish bags hanging over some fools head while off loading.
