Training Program

Post by ata »

Hi All:

The good folks involved in the Fisheries, Seafood, Maritime Initiative are asking for some help from fishermen, as they try to develop a practical training program that would be of benefit to our industry. Here's some info and a link to the survey. Please don't shine this on because you think you don't have anything to offer, because you do. The survey is quick and easy. I hope you'll help.

Best!

Alaska's seafood industry is the state's largest private employer. An estimated 30,000 people participate in the harvesting of seafood and shellfish in Alaska each year.

To better support the fishing, seafood and maritime industries, the State of Alaska, industry and the University of Alaska are working together in 2013 to develop a Workforce Development Plan for these sectors. Similar plans have been created for Alaska's healthcare industry and the oil and gas industry. These plans guide state agencies, educational institutions and the industry in developing programs and policies that support our most vital economic engines in Alaska.

If you are a fisherman or crew member, please take a few minutes to give your input by filling out an online survey available through March 1:
