Byron Mallott - Governor of Alaska

Post by yak2you2 »

Think what you want on the big ticket political battles. Personally, I stand with neither side. However, on a statewide level, you'd better be supporting Byron Mallott for Governor if your a commercial fisher.
The last two Governors have been complete, and utter let downs for commercial fisheries on every level. Byron grew up in a fishing town, he gets it, simple as that.

Hi Casey, I am pretty sure that Byron also was a HT too.

HT and PT. Halibut longliner, He had a long life of fishing before he ever went into politics. I've talked to him a lot about fishing, and fisheries politics. He gets what supporting Alaska's #1 job opportunity means.

Casey,
I don't know if we are supposed to talk politics on this site. Nevertheless I would agree with you about Byron. I have known him personally for over 20 years. When I was going through cancer treatment he called me.
I do think you made an error. By my reckoning it is the past 3 Governors who have been bad for our fisheries.
We will probably be fined for these comments. I will pay yours.

Met with Byron last night. I am more convinced than ever that we need a change. From my perspective as a life long SE resident, a commercial salmon fisherman, high school basketball player, dad, grandad, graduate of Sheldon Jackson, and a Democrat I could hardly find a more compatible candidate as Byron shares all those experiences. Good enthusiastic turnout last night for our next Governor.
