AMSEA Drill Conductor Workshops in Juneau

AMSEA has scheduled Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor Workshops for the coming months in Juneau. These classes are free to commercial fishermen and are scheduled from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM on the following dates:
  • November 22, 2014
    December 13, 2014
    January 17, 2015
    February 21, 2015
    March 21, 2015
    April 25, 2015
This course meets the US Coast Guard drill conductor requirements for fishing vessels. Course instructor, Neil Nickerson, will cover these topics:

• Cold water survival skills
• EPIRBs, flares, and maydays
• Man overboard recovery
• Fire fighting
• Immersion suits and PFDs
• Emergency drills
• Helicopter rescue
• Life rafts
• Abandon ship procedures

The cost is FREE for commercial fishermen thanks to support from the U.S. Coast Guard, NIOSH, and Alaska DCCED. The workshops will be conducted at the UAS Technical Education Center, Room 133, at 1415 Harbor Way, Juneau, AK 99801. Register online or call AMSEA at (907) 747-3287. We hope to see you there!
