Free F/V Drill Conductor Workshops in Petersburg

Post by AMSEA »

Trollers home ported in Petersburg, Alaska have a couple of opportunities in February to get a free Fishing Vessel Drill Conductor workshop. AMSEA instructor, Dug Jensen, will teach a two-day workshop on February 6 & 7 and a three-day workshop on February 18, 19, and 20. Both classes cover the same material.

• Cold water survival skills
• EPIRBs, flares, and maydays
• Man overboard recovery
• Fire fighting
• Immersion suits and PFDs
• Emergency drills
• Helicopter rescue
• Life rafts
• Abandon ship procedures
• In-the-water practice session

These workshops provide hands-on training with the survival equipment you will rely on in an emergency at sea and meet the training requirements for documented fishing vessels operating in federal waters. You can't beat the price. It's free to commercial fishermen thanks to funding from the U.S. Coast Guard, Alaska DCCED, and NIOSH. Register online or call AMSEA at (907) 747-3287.
