I've had trouble in the past when I have overlooked a "submit" button you have to push. Look closely. You think you have pressed "submit" (or something) once, but when the screen changes, you must push yet another button to make it go. Once you get it right, there will be a "your message was successfully sent" message. Hope that is the problem.

They stay in your Outbox until they are read by the recipient. Then they are moved to 'Sent'.

Confusing, much.
