I am finding myself having to think "outside the box". I have a 23' Penn Yan Salmon permitted boat that was fished as rod and reel. I am wanting to install a hydraulic system. Unfortunately, I am running into mounting issues for the Vickers 42 VTM assembly. My motor is a gas 2001 Volvo Penta 5.7 GSi l-A and uses a serpentine belt. I have been advised that I should run the pump off the crankshaft which is currently occupied by my raw water pump. The pump services the raw water to the element/assembly that cools the fresh water in my self contained/isolated cooling system. Has anyone else installed a pump with this motor. I have been advised that the torque from hydraulic pump means it should be installed onto the crankshaft. Simply adding an extra pulley onto one of the other spots/accessories on the motor would not work. Any input truly appreciated.
