I have a comnav Autopilot in my boat about a week before the end of the season it started malfunctioning. Symptoms sometimes it would engage sometimes not. It gradually got worse
And now completely quit. Talked to several people, checked several things but I'm
Not the worlds greatest mechanic or technician. when I had someone hit buttons on unit the Pump Made a faint clicking sound.
Someone told me it might be the brushes and not making good contact. I don't think
I want to tackle this project. Boat is in Craig. Any autopilot experts or certified comnav technicians in area? I'll prob be in Ktn area early June. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Joe

Joeman,

there is a guy here in Ketchikan named Steve Huffine. He is the comnav dealer here. I can get you his number if you like?

Rob.

I've called Hamilton Jet more than once about my comnav. They are located in Woodenville WA I believe. (800) 423-3509
Anyway, their tech guy "Tein" (Tee-in) really knows these things well.

I got a hold of Steve. He says what I have is an old Wood Freeman style pump. I'm still down south and will be for another month or so . But I will need to address this problem shortly after arriving if anyone has any tips suggestions on repairing the style pump or whether just be better to get a new one would be appreciated .
Thanks,
Joe

After 2 weeks of messing with the autopilot and spending 590 bucks this lowliner figured it out!!! It was an airlock!! Guess that's how a greenhorn learns. Hope everyone has a great season!
