fall chinook

Post by John Murray »

Well the count on the Columbia VIA Fish Passage center is down from what was expected, still seems decent at 630k at Bonneville dam.Maybe they haven't got thru the 70 million sockeye going up the Frazer R.Makes me wonder where all those kings that were in very high abundance in SE have gone.Guess we'll find out as they head back home?
Luckily a lot of the troll fleet fished in the deeper waters away from the bottom that saved some incidental catches. It was weird catching kings dragging 30 fm.of gear in 60 fm. of water though.
The feed composition was different lots of small herring and small blackcod, didn't see much needlefish. The coho were feeding good somewhere.

Did you notice the Pacific Saury in the coho?

Lots of squid in the coho while the Chinook were stuffed with herring.
