any insight into the 44 hokiam blue finn as a sea boat?

This will be an interesting discussion of Hoquiams. As near as I can tell they have a lot of respect as a good work platform. They are good sea boats in my limited estimation. In years past I've crewed for short periods on one and ridden on two others. All of them seemed a little "quicker" than the boat I ran and was used to. But it was motion that was easy to adjust your natural movements to and get used to.

interesting, by quicker i take it you mean they right themselves faster? if so in my limited exp. that seems like it would be a good thing?

I agree - it can be a good thing. I'm a little surprised that you haven't gotten more of a response to your question. There are a significant number of these hulls fishing coast-wide.
The steel Monk-designed hull I was using for comparison was 10-feet longer, somewhat wider and was equipped with rolling chocks.
