Casting cannon balls

Post by fishbonker »

I'm getting ready to cast some large cannon balls for commercial trolling. I've done a lot of casting (bullets, sinkers, decoy weights, etc) but I've never cast anything larger than 10#. Any tips?? What do you all use for eyes??

Much thanks

Use of a ganion for the eye. You'll have to have access to having all the weight melting at once and pour slowly. As soon as is hardened open mold and give a few minutes before you dump out. Then as soon as possible dump the full ball out and keep mold open so can cool as will be super hot. More than likely cast iron. Good luck!
