I am new to this forum and find it full of great information.
I want to learn to commercial salmon troll in Washington. I am looking for a captain who is willing to teach me in exchange for sweat equity, which is to say, I will work for experience as compensation. I currently have a great job, and the flexibility to fish. I can clean, rig gear, drive the boat, and anything else you tell me to do. I will ask good questions, but am a fan of "ears open, mouth shut" for the new guy.
Ultimately, I would like to but a boat and permit, but need to break-in as a greenhorn. I am not new to commercial fishing, as I have several years as a deckhand on a crab boat, Charter Boat, and am a licensed guide. I am a hard worker, no drugs/drinking, have a driver's license, no criminal record, and you won't find me in jail the morning of the trip. I know what it takes to be a great deckhand.
I live in Montesano WA.
Any thoughts or comments are greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
A forum for people who are new to commercial fishing and for talking about the fundamental rules and regulations.
